PHM Sri Lanka discusses the proposed Constitution of Sri Lanka

Date:
16 Feb 2016

PHM Sri Lanka held a meeting in January 2016 to discuss the proposed Constitution of Sri Lanka. Introducing the subject, Mr. Peiris mentioned that this is not a new issue since PHM had been taking efforts to have the Right to health included in the Constitution since 2000 as the Sri Lankan Chapter of PHM was inaugurated.  In the year 2000, PHM Sri Lanka made a submission to the Constitution planners. A letter confirming the receipt was received. PHM was the only organization to make the request.  At present, there are more issues such as those of transgender persons getting added which strongly justifies the need for enshrining health rights in the Constitution.
