JSA would like to recall and reiterate the main features of corruption in the private sector in health care and call upon the government to act firmly against this. Such corruption leads to huge increases in the costs of care, causes impoverishment and compromises health outcomes for individuals and for society.

Date:
Wed, 08/14/2013
PHM India, including a large number of public health professionals, has sent an Open Letter to Prime Minister on the issue of access to essential medicines in India. The letter reminds him of his announcement during last year's (2012) Independence Day Speech that free medicines would be distributed through government hospitals and health centres. One year after this announcement, there are enough indications that the programme will be silently shelved.
