It called for swift action to build latrines, provide safe water supplies, remove bodies and reassure frightened people that the disease is treatable.
 
The UN has called for an end to the riots which have followed the outbreak.
 
Edmond Mulet, the head of the UN mission in Haiti, said violent protests by people who blame peacekeepers for the spread of the disease were wasting time and costing lives.

WHO reveals H1N1 committee's links with big pharma

The World Health Organization has revealed the names of the 16 experts/advisors on its emergency committee, which recommended the declaration of the H1N1 pandemic in June 2009, showing that five of them have or have had ties with the pharmaceutical industry.

Their identities were revealed after the committee was dissolved following the announcement of the end of the H1N1 influenza pandemic by the WHO on 10 August, which had always been the organization's plan.

These case studies and testimonies will form part of the electronic platform of the alternative world health and selected case studies shall also be incorporated into the final document of Global Health Watch 3 – scheduled for publication in 2011.

The People’s Health Movement (PHM) was asked and challenged to host the secretariat of the Global Health Watch 3 (GHW3) after MedAct, as host for GHW1, and Global Equity Gauge alliance (GEGA) for the GHW2. Representing the PHM, Amit Sengupta (PHM-India) accepted to tackle the coordination of the GHW3 from Delhi.
